Lottenlund Estate is situated in Allerum just outside Helsingborg in southern Sweden. This family owned estate benefits from the mild coastal climate of the region making it an ideal spot for cultivating cold climate grape varieties. The vineyard focuses on sustainable agriculture and produces clean wines alongside artisanal spirits like gin and apple brandy.

What You Can Do

Visitors can participate in guided vineyard walks where the owners explain the challenges and rewards of northern viticulture. You can tour the modern production facility and the barrel cellar where the red wines and spirits mature. Structured tastings are held in the bright tasting room where you can sample several styles of their white, rosé, and red wines. The estate features a beautifully arranged sensory garden where guests can walk and smell the different botanicals used in their gin distillation process.

What They Offer

The estate primarily grows Solaris grapes for crisp white wines, alongside Cabernet Cortis and Regent for reds and rosés. While there is no large hotel directly on the estate, they offer beautifully designed tasting spaces and venues for private events. They also produce their own honey, apple cider, and various spirits distilled on site. A small estate shop allows visitors to purchase non alcoholic products, honey, and vinegar produced on the farm.

Activities

Beyond the wine tastings, guests can explore the surrounding agricultural landscape and nearby nature areas. The estate is located close to the coast, allowing for easy day trips to the sea. They also host workshops on distillation and grape growing for those interested in the technical aspects of northern wine production. The nearby city of Helsingborg offers cultural attractions and urban exploration just a short drive away.

Food to Eat

Dining experiences at the estate focus on seasonal Scanian ingredients sourced from nearby farms. The food is prepared to complement the fresh acidity of the estate wines. While they do not operate a daily restaurant, they offer curated food pairings during scheduled tasting events, featuring local cheeses, cured meats, and fresh bread. Every pairing is designed to highlight the unique flavor profile of their cool climate vintages.

Why Visit

Lottenlund Estate provides an authentic look into the rapidly growing Swedish wine industry. It is a practical and educational stop for anyone wishing to understand how modern viticulture operates in a Nordic environment.

Our visit to the estate was highly educational and the dedication of the hosts is evident in the clean profile of the Solaris wine. The tasting room is modern and welcoming, though the lack of overnight accommodation directly on the property means you have to plan your transport back to Helsingborg after a tasting session.
