Vinmonopolet Tønsberg – Courses and Educational Tastings
Vinmonopolet in Tønsberg offers a curated programme of educational tasting courses focused on learning through guided tasting and comparison. The courses are led by Vinmonopolet’s own trained experts and are designed to be engaging and accessible, regardless of prior experience.
From January to June 2026, eight courses are held in Tønsberg. All courses take place at URO at Haugar and run from 18:00 to 20:00.
Each course includes five carefully selected products and focuses on tasting technique, style recognition, origin and production methods.
20 January 2026 – Learn to Taste Red Wine
Event name: Learn to Taste Red Wine
Description:
An introductory course designed to help participants better understand their own taste preferences. Through guided tasting, you will learn how to recognise structure, balance and key flavour components in red wine, while developing confidence in tasting technique and style recognition.
27 January 2026 – Red Wine from Burgundy

Description:
An exploration of one of the world’s most renowned wine regions. This course focuses on red wines from Burgundy, examining how vineyard site, vintage and winemaker choices influence style and expression. A structured tasting highlights the region’s diversity and precision.
10 February 2026 – Learn to Taste White Wine

Description:
A clear and accessible introduction to white wine tasting. The course explains sweetness, acidity and texture, while teaching tasting technique and how to recognise different styles and grape expressions through guided comparison.
10 March 2026 – White Wine from Burgundy
Event name: White Wine from Burgundy
Description:
White Burgundy is among the most sought after wines in the world. This course explores wines from key villages and appellations, focusing on how origin, soil and winemaking decisions shape aroma, structure and ageing potential.
21 April 2026 – Rosé Wine
Event name: Rosé Wine
Description:
An introduction to rosé wine and its many expressions. Participants learn how rosé is produced, why styles differ and how colour, structure and flavour are connected. The tasting includes five different rosé wines and offers practical insight into this versatile category.
26 May 2026 – Sparkling Wine
Event name: Sparkling Wine
Description:
A structured introduction to sparkling wine styles and production methods. The course explains how bubbles are created, what distinguishes different techniques and how these choices influence aroma, texture and flavour. A comparative tasting highlights key stylistic differences.
28 May 2026 – Sparkling Wine
Event name: Sparkling Wine
Description:
A second opportunity to attend this popular sparkling wine course. Participants further explore production methods, regional styles and sensory characteristics through guided tasting and discussion.
16 June 2026 – Small and Large Champagne Houses
Event name: Small and Large Champagne Houses
Description:
A comparative tasting exploring Champagne from both major houses and smaller producers. The course examines how scale, philosophy and production choices influence style, offering insight into the diversity that exists within the Champagne region.

Practical Information
Registration
Registration is binding. Participants are advised to carefully confirm course, location and date before completing their booking. Bookings must be made through Vinmonopolet’s webpage, see link under the tab ‘Website’.
Cancellation
Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged for other courses. Vinmonopolet follows the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act. According to Section 22 (m), there is no right of withdrawal for course registrations tied to a specific date.
Age Requirements
Beer and wine courses: Minimum age 18
Valid identification may be required. Participation may be denied without refund if age cannot be verified.
Reservations
Courses are subject to a sufficient number of participants. Vinmonopolet reserves the right to make changes to programme, venue, timing or vintages. Participants will be informed promptly and given the option to withdraw if significant changes occur.
